2012 Hats and Tea Event

5/12/2012

The Hats and Tea annual event focused this year on Breast Cancer Awareness.  Our speakers: Tina  Abdul-Aziz from The Center for Multicultural Health, Bridgette Richardson Hempstead from Cierra Sisters and Marilyn Calbert from the YWCA are to be applauded for not only sharing lots of important information with us but also engaging us in song and humor, all very important in the quest for good health. We were also very touched to have Susan Mhone share with us her recent journey through breast cancer. We had fantastic support from community organizations and businesses and we thank all of them: Tully's Coffee, Market Spice Tea, PCC Markets, Panera, DC Productions and Mary Kay. We also got support from the Susan G Komen Foundation with educational materials and a grant to facilitate the event. Thanks to all of the ladies who attended and we hope that you enjoyed it, learnt something new and met new friends. Above all thanks to the ladies within the Zambian Community who helped make this possible by donating time, expertise and ideas, we cannot do it without you. Check out some photos of the event.
